French Funerals & Cremations helped create a unique memorial and viewing to honor the life of Donna Burkholder, a beloved member of the Albuquerque community and a professional dart thrower who left a lasting impact on everyone she met. Donna owned a popular dart shop in Albuquerque for many years, where her motto was "You can fly’em before you buy’em." She was an active member of the New Mexico Dart Association, organizing and running numerous dart tournaments.
Donna's passion for darts was unparalleled, and she wanted her love for the game to be part of her final journey.
A Unique Floral Tribute
During the arrangements, French Funerals & Cremations suggested a unique floral tribute—a dartboard made entirely of flowers. The family was ecstatic about the idea since it reflected Donna's vibrant personality and love for the game, and it became a central piece of Donna's memorial.
For the visitation, family and friends were welcome to share stories and memories of Donna. Everyone was encouraged to participate by throwing a dart in her honor using a dartboard brought in by the family.

Flowers by Zach-Low, was on display during the viewing in this unique celebration of Donna's life. However, it was reserved for the family to throw darts and was buried with Donna as a special keepsake.
Final Resting Place
Since Donna preplanned her funeral, she specified that she wished to be buried with her tournament darts, a set of three cherished darts that she carried in a pouch around her neck. Donna was laid to rest with her cherished darts and the floral dartboard, symbolizing her passion and dedication to the sport she loved. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those she touched and the community she served.
