Wilfred John Brennan, age 96, a resident of Albuquerque since 1934, passed away on October 3rd at the home he and his grandfather built in 1947. He was surrounded by his seven children, their spouses, and his caregiver of eight years. He is survived by his sister, Rosemary Glennon; seven children, John Brennan and his wife, Sarah, Barbie Brennan and her husband, Tony McMahon, Alice Myers and her husband, John, Fred Brennan and his wife, Shawn, Tim Brennan and his wife, Laurie, Jane Brennan, and Maureen Brennan; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and caregivers. Wilfred was preceded in death by his wife of 64 1/2 years, Peggy McCanna Brennan; his brother, Donald Brennan; his parents, Alice and William Brennan; his grandfather, Frederic Perrault.
Wilfred was born in Youngstown, OH, 1920. His family moved to Albuquerque when he was 14 years old. Wilfred served his country in the 354th Fighter Group that landed on Omaha Beach on D-day plus 6. His group helped to build a landing strip in Normandy and while in France, they were given an award for helping a small Village to rebuild. After the war he came home and attended college on the GI bill. In 1944 he married Peggy McCanna and they raised seven children. All of his children attended Parochial schools because he felt it was important to instill a sense of faith. Wilfred and his business partner, Albert Arrigoni, built a successful insurance/real estate business-Berger Briggs. He worked there for over 35 years, then retired when his wife Peggy, needed caregiving at home. He was supportive of his family, church, community, and country. He worked all of his life to be a good son, a good husband, and a good father. The word most used to describe him is "Gentleman". The family extends their thanks to his special caregiver Billie Halliday, and all of the nurses and doctors at Presbyterian Hospice Care.
