Virginia Longwood "Ginnie" Valigura

June 27, 1929 — October 16, 2016

Virginia (Ginnie) Longwood Valigura, age 87, of Albuquerque, passed away October 16, 2016. She was born June 27, 1929 in Danevang, TX to Theodore and Myrtle Denton Longwood.
Ginnie is survived by her husband of 68 years, William (Bill); her son, Paul Valigura and wife, Mary; granddaughter, Erin and husband Joseph Wrobel and their sons, Luke, Will and Tate; grandson, Jordan and wife Amy and their daughter, Autumn. She is also survived by her niece, Patsy Waldrop and husband Kirby; and nephew, Clayton Francis Teat and wife Linda of Houston, TX; as well as many other loving family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Willard F. Longwood; and sister, Merle Longwood Teat.
Ginnie worked in payroll for the Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX from 1952-1955. She worked for the Navy in Corpus Christi, TX as a payroll clerk from 1961-1966. She completed her career as a purchasing agent for the Los Alamos Laboratories and worked there from 1968-1989.
She loved her family, her home, cooking, her caring card ministry, and her career at Los Alamos National Laboratories. Ginnie was a member of St. Stephen's United Methodist Church. She also loved watching sports, especially basketball. Her favorite team was the San Antonio Spurs.
Memorial Services will be held Sunday, October 30, 2016, 2:00 p.m. at the Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. A reception will follow at FRENCH - University. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army of Albuquerque. The family would like to thank Ambercare Hospice and The Montebello for taking such good care of Ginnie.
