Virginia "Ginny" (Moyer) McCausland

March 7, 1927 — June 17, 2019

Virginia “Ginny” McCausland of Albuquerque, NM passed away on Monday, June 17, 2019 at the age of 92. She was born in Kansas City, KS on March 7, 1927; the daughter of Floyd and Hazel Hutchings.  She was preceded in death by her son Richard “Ricky” Moyer and her brother Floyd Jr, at age 95 last September, and sisters Thelma, Judy and Doris along with her first husband Clair Moyer in 2000.

She is survived by her loving children: son, Robert “Bob” Moyer of Mesa, AZ with his wife Carla and their two children Jessica Hagman and Robert “Rob” (with their children Madelyn and Anna Blake and son Luke); daughter, Cynthia “Cindy” Bradbury, of Albuquerque, NM with her son Henry “Hank” Bradbury and his wife Robin (their children Alexander and Nakai Bradbury); daughter, Karen Moyer of Albuquerque, NM and her wife Jaymi McKay.  She is also survived by her sister, Nancy Dixon and her husband, Richard Dixon of Prescott, AZ.

She finished high school in 1944 in Portland, OR and attended Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa, ID and then married Clair Moyer when she was 21. She married John McCausland  on August 30, 2008 at Hoffmantown Church in Albuquerque, NM.

Her career was varied including employment at Rich Ford and Chevrolet car dealers and Del Norte High School Registrar.

She enjoyed wearing hats and stylish clothes. She enjoyed angel figurines and had a small collection of these.

Ginny always enjoyed competitive sports and excelled in playing table tennis, tennis and golf. She was in the Senior Olympics tennis doubles. She played to win even with her children. When her son, Bob finally beat her at table tennis, he proceeded to pick her up and carry her into the house announcing his great achievement! She enjoyed being called “the lone arranger” when she did the telephoning necessary to keep four tennis courts of doubles playing five times a week during the summer for many years. Her tennis friends and supporters enjoyed playing with and against her and showed her much love throughout her life. She enjoyed cooking and baking special recipes of Indian tacos, sunshine cake, cinnamon rolls, currie, and candy caramels; hosting many large get togethers for family and friends.

Ginny never knew a stranger! She wanted to meet everyone! Her personality touched so many with her reaching out as though she had known them for years. She particularly enjoyed meeting military people at church and inviting them to her home to enjoy her family meals. One boy was delighted when she cooked a great dinner with cake to honor his 20th birthday. She knew his being away from home caused him to be lonely.

She loved her family and spending time together, shopping for each member of the family and many friends with special items fitting for each person. For her sister Nancy, she loved to buy matching outfits so they could be “twins” since though they were sixteen years apart...as they say, “they didn’t break the mold” and looked alike!

We remember her thoughtfulness, her smile, warmth and love to make our time together special. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and was happiest when surrounded by family and friends.

The family would like to express appreciation to caregivers Eunice Mahkee, Linda Pearcey, Sara Patterson, Paige McKenzie and Katie (Goodwin) Pointer. All were very patient and kind helping Ginny through tough times.
