Salomon, “Salo” Jojola was born on June 6, 1935 and died on December 3, 2017.
At the age of 16, Salomon enlisted in the United States Navy where he earned the National Defense Service Metal and the Korean Service Metal. He served 4 years and continued to serve his country by enlisting in the U.S. Naval Reserve until June 5,1960. Salomon returned to Albuquerque where he married the love of his life, Mary “Josie” Lopez. They were married for 60 wonderful years. Salo became a Firefighter for the Albuquerque Fire Department and retired in 1981 at the rank of Lieutenant. After retirement he embraced and exercised his passion for life with his wife and family by traveling, going fishing, camping and hunting whenever he could. He loved to garden, his dogs, and his occasional lot of chickens, rabbits and a yearly returning tortoise, but nothing was more important him than family. He loved to joke and tell stories and lived life to the fullest.
Salomon left this world to join those who went before him: his parents, Simon and Cora Jojola; brother, Robert, “Bobby” Jojola; brother-in-law, Paul Maestas; and granddaughter, Luanna Jojola, to live with our Lord, Jesus Christ in Paradise. We celebrate his life, knowing he was a man of God, a man of family and a man of service. He is no longer in pain or fighting illness and he is happy once again. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Josie Jojola; his children, Allan Jojola and wife, Christine, daughter, Liza Mirabal and husband, Rudy, and son, Victor Jojola. He is also survived by grandchildren, Jennie Mirabal, Sonia Mirabal, and Lucretia Jojola; great grandchildren, Monique Mirabal, Andrew Mirabal and Jaylah Mirabal. Salomon is also survived by his siblings, Emma Maestas, Rosalie Montano and husband, Joe, Cora Trujillo, Michael Jojola and partner, Patricia Torn.
