SMSgt Philip M. (Ret.) Rood

SMSgt Philip M. Rood (Ret.) passed away on January 3, 2017 at his home after a long illness. Philip was born May 7, 1938, to Philip and Vivian Campbell Rood. Philip enlisted in the United States Air Force directly after graduating from high school. During his 27 year tenure, he served at 13 bases, retiring from Onizuka Air Station in 1983. He subsequently worked for Lockheed Martin retiring in 2003. Philip spent his life as a devout family and military man, serving on several committees at church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Janice Gebur; children, Tamara (Alvin) Spenker, Marsan Rood, Michael (Jodi) Rood; foster-son Travis Jensen; 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Philip was preceded in death by his parents.
Interment will be held Friday, January 13, 2017, 12:45 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N. Guadalupe St, Santa Fe, NM. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 14, 2017, 1:00 p.m., at St. John's United Methodist Church, 2626 Arizona St. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675, or at support.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate or a charity of your choice.
