Robert (Bob) Partido

Robert (Bob) Partido, age 85, was born October 18, 1935, in Woodward, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gabriel Kane, and Andrea Partido; and his 10 brothers and sisters. From childhood to high school Bob was active in sports and activities that included Boy Scouts, Baseball, Football, and Boxing.

Bob was drafted into the US Army where he served as an artillery crewman in Korea and achieved the rank of Sergeant.
After his military service, Bob attended college at Pan Handle State University in Goodwell, OK. He had various jobs while in college, including working for the Santa Fe Railroad, and what would become his career, the US Forest Service.

After earning his degree in agronomy, he began his career in the US Forest Service working in Arizona and New Mexico including the Kaibab, Prescott, Santa Fe, and Lincoln National Forests, and at the Southwestern Regional Office. His official positions were Forster, Range Conservationist, Range Staff, Biologist, Fire Staff, District Ranger, Range Ecologist, and Director of the USFS Southwestern Range Program.

Bob was active in the Society of Range Management where he held offices at the state and regional levels. He was also a member of the Society of American Foresters (SAF), holding leadership roles at the local and regional levels. He served on the national council of SAF and received the Forester of the Century Award in 2000. Bob was instrumental in organizing bi-annual reunions between the Southwest Society of SAF and the Association of Mexican Professional Foresters.

In 1963 while working in Cuba, New Mexico, Bob met the love of his life, Oliva Aragon. They were married in Cuba, New Mexico on February 20, 1965. They had a son, Gabriel, and a daughter, Dorothy. The Family lived in the New Mexico communities of Pecos, Sacramento, Coyote, and Albuquerque. Living in Northern New Mexico allowed him to enjoy his hobbies which included hunting, fishing, golfing, skiing, rafting, watching football, and hot air ballooning. During this time, he also was a founding board member of the Friends of Smokey Bear Balloon.
Bob was able to travel the country and the world with his job as a mining reclamation specialist and as a wildland firefighter. He taught wild land firefighting courses in Mexico, Puerto Rico, Argentina, Chile, Spain, and Portugal.

Out of all his accomplishments, Bob was most proud of his family.
He is survived and will be missed by his wife, Olivia; son, Gabriel; daughter, Dorothy; daughter-in-law, Anna; son-in-law, Lionel; and grandsons, Vicente, Gabriel, and Tomas as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The celebration of the Holy Rosary will be held on Friday, August 20, 2021, at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 5712 Paradise Blvd in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery on Friday, August 27, 2021, at 3:00 p.m.
