"Jack" Whitaker, 75, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2016. Jack was born in Truscott, TX but was a resident of Albuquerque since 1969. Jack was known to many of his friends as "Big Jack" and "Poppie" to his grandkids. His passion for hunting and fishing along with his southern charm, sense of humor, and strong political opinion will leave a lasting memory. Jack proudly served in the United States Army, and was honorably discharged in 1965. He began his career in New Mexico in the mortgage business then into real estate with Chaparral Realtors and eventually in the construction industry with Whitaker Homes.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Gloria Whitaker; his sons, Jon Whitaker and fiancée Kimberly McBride of San Antonio, TX, and Sean Whitaker and wife Kelley of Albuquerque; and his four grandchildren, Alexi, Garrett, Tanner and Brody.
