Richard D. Newman, age 69, of Albuquerque, passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2021 after a long illness.
Born June 16, 1951 in Albuquerque to Edward and Dorothy Newman. He had lived at the Camino Retirement Apartments in Albuquerque.
He is survived by his brothers, Ken and sister-in-law, Marra of Albuquerque, Gordon and sister-in-law Kimberly of Edgewood, and Jeffrey of Hobbs; nephews, Jeffery Companion and Corey Newman; nieces Melanie Parsons, Christy Newman, and Sarah Newman.
He graduated from Del Norte High School in 1969. He received an architectural drafting certificate from Albuquerque T-VI. He began his career as an architectural drafter and later became an electrical designer. During his career he designed electrical systems in many buildings locally, nationally, and abroad. He worked for a subcontractor, designing the upgrade of the fabrication facility, at Intel in Rio Rancho.
He was an avid cycler, enjoyed disc golf, technology, digital art, printing fractals, portrait drawing, political activism, coffee shops, watching motor sports, and breakfast and art class at Highland Senior Center.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, May 27, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at Calvary of Albuquerque, 4001 Osuna Road NE.
