Raymond F. Sisneros, a long-time resident of Bernalillo, NM passed away on Friday, June 28, 2019. He was born and raised in Abo, NM. He received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army after serving bravely in Italy during WWII. In 1963, he moved to Bernalillo with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Federico Sisneros and Guadalupe (Salas) Sisneros of Abo, NM; his wife, Vivian (Contreras) Sisneros; infant daughter, Maria Magdalena; a son, Thomas R. Sisneros; brother, Bolais Sisneros and wife Della; a sister, Mary Enriquez and husband, Edwardo; and a sister-in-law, Frances Sisneros. He is survived by his brothers, Pete Sisneros (Bernice) and Luis Sisneros; sister, Trinidad Jojola (Robert) of Chandler, AZ; and daughter-in-law, Claudia Sisneros.
He called his children his “Jewels,” his treasure and greatest of his achievements, Bertha Parker Sisneros, Raymond F. Sisneros, Jr. (Susan), Priscilla Rebecca Alvarado (Ernest), Barbara Rogers (Randy), and Gertrude “Trudy” Sisneros who will forever love and respect their dad. In 1987, he married Eva (Lovato) Sisneros of Bernalillo and were married for 31 ½ years.
Mr. Sisneros received his BS degree from St. Joseph’s College in Albuquerque and his master’s degree from Eastern NM University. He taught school at Abo and Mountainair, NM before moving to Bernalillo where he taught math and science and became a school administrator for the Bernalillo Public Schools until his retirement in 1988. He had a brilliant mind and was a respected leader by example during his lifetime. He was also the co-owner of the Sisneros-Torres Vineyards and kept busy at his ranch of registered Black Angus cattle located in Abo, NM.
He will be dearly missed as an outstanding son, brother, husband, dad, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will also be remembered fondly by his nieces, nephews and cousins. He demonstrated his love for God, devotion to family, service to his country and was always encouraged by the success of the students under his supervision. We salute you, Mr. Sisneros, for all you did, for what you taught us and for a job well done! You fought the good fight. May you live now in the presence of the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, and spend an eternity of happiness and joy along with those who have gone on before you. We will miss you. ¡ Vaya con Dios!
