Raymond J. Jones

Raymond J. Jones, 91, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, died peacefully at home on September 2, 2018, in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.
Raymond, "the Old Sarge" was born at Mother Cabrini Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL on July 11, 1927, to Guido and Mary Clauser. He was adopted by William and Minnie Jones, and grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. He served stateside in the U.S. Army, active and reserve, for approximately 30 years, he also worked for the U.S. Postal Service and retired after 30 years. After retiring, he moved to New Mexico with his wife Ruth, where he drove a school bus for several years for the Rio Rancho Public Schools.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Ruth Estelle Jones; his son, John J. Jones (Yolanda Howren, who he affectionately nicknamed Florence Nightingale!), and grandson, Joey R. Jones of Rio Rancho, NM; nieces, Maureen (David) Ryan, of Ohio, Colleen (Howard) Yeilding of Edgewood, NM; nephew Patrick (Ellyn) Gaughan of Ohio, and other family members .
Raymond loved talking sports and history, and was a fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes. He was a kind and generous person and was a great story teller.

A memorial service will be held Monday, September 9, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at FRENCH – Rio Rancho, followed by a Graveside Service at Vista Verde Memorial Park.
