Raymond Clement (a.k.a. Safety Ray) 79, passed away peacefully in the presence of his family, after a long illness on August 17, 2021. Ray was commonly known as Pépère by his grandchildren, the name brought him a feeling of great pride. Ray was born in Fall River, Massachusetts on August 8th, 1942. He settled in California after leaving the Navy where he served on the U.S.S. Pivot from 1963 to 1968. In 1978 he moved to Albuquerque, NM where he lived until his death. Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Leota (Bastien) Clement; father, Raymond Clement Sr.; mother, Jeannette (Gagnon) Clement; and his sister, Theresa Fahey. He is survived by his sister, Diane Methot and her husband Paul; his two children, Denise Clement, Mark Clement and wife Darice; his grandchildren, Allie, Isabella, Ethan, and Madelyn, as well as his many nieces and nephews. Ray worked as a Safety Officer for the majority of his career and often travelled in several states. He worked for Wylie Corp, Mountain States Constructors, and Armstrong Construction in New Mexico. He retired from Reiman Corp. in Wyoming. He often shared memories of the people he worked with and loved to engage in conversation about his work. He would especially like to thank Joe Kinnikin, whom he regarded as a mentor during his career. Ray was a member of Sangre de Cristo Parish for over 40 years and served as a Catechist with the parish for much of that time. One of his fondest memories was a Seder meal he would prepare each year to further enrich his students in their Bible studies.
