Ramona Wilson

Ramona Mapes Wilson completed her life's journey on Tuesday, July 11, 2017.

She was born in Indiana in 1921. She graduated from Santa Fe High in 1941 and married her high school sweetheart, Leon Wilson the same year. During the war, she lived in San Diego while her husband worked in the aircraft plants. They settled in Albuquerque, NM after the war where they raised their family. Ramona was a devoted homemaker and mother. She became an accomplished china painting artist and taught students of all ages from her home. Over the years her work has received much recognition and multiple awards. Ramona and Leon Wilson were married for 75 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Yvonne Sample and husband, David Sample; her son, Fletcher Wilson and wife, Cathy Wilson, and their families. Her legacy includes five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Ramona loved animals, nature and her family. She lived with a determination to view all of life with hope and acceptance. She was dearly loved and will be profoundly missed. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 29, 2017, 10:00 a.m. at FRENCH - Lomas.
