Ralph A. Schmidt

Ralph A. Schmidt passed away at his home Thursday, April 28, 2016 at the age of 85, surrounded by family.
Ralph was born March 2, 1931 in Allentown, NJ to Mr. and Mrs. Gustav Schmidt. He went on to earn his bachelor's degree in chemistry from Drexel University, after serving his country in the Korean War.
Ralph married his wife Ann in 1957, and welcomed his son Rick into the world in 1958, followed by his daughter Leslie in 1961. He then moved the family from New Jersey to Savannah, GA in 1969 after accepting a job with Union Camp, where he stayed for seven years. In 1976, he moved to Los Alamos, NM, where he began working as a Safety Engineer for the Los Alamos National Laboratory, before retiring in 1993.
In retirement, Ralph enjoyed reading, watching football (especially his Philadelphia Eagles), watching movies, visiting family, and most of all, traveling across the world with Ann.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Ann; his son, Rick; daughter, Leslie; daughter-in-law, Norma, and his grandson, Grayson.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Ella; his father, Gustav, and his brother, Hans Ulrich.
Services will be held Thursday, May 5, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Jude Thaddeus, 5712 Paradise Blvd. NW, Albuquerque, NM 87114. Interment will take place Thursday, May 5, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 North Guadalupe Street, Santa Fe, NM 87501.
