Pitsy Blanche Chapman

October 20, 1934 — June 1, 2022

Pitsy Blanche Chapman was born October 20, 1934, in Hobart, Oklahoma, to Earl Reneau and Thelma Lovejoy. She passed from this life June 1, 2022, at the age of 87. The family moved from Oklahoma to New Mexico when she was 10 years old. Pitsy married Fred Chapman in Roswell, New Mexico, in 1953. Pitsy worked as a telephone operator before marrying. She became a United States Army military housewife and mother and traveled to Germany, Panama, and throughout the United States. Pitsy and Fred had four children, Barbara Thompson, Gail Randolph, Paul Chapman, and David Chapman. Pitsy would always say that she would follow Fred around the world with four kids in tow. She returned to the work field while Fred was deployed to Vietnam by the United States Army in 1965, to finally call Albuquerque their home in 1968. Pitsy later would attend college to earn her bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Albuquerque when Fred retired from the Army. She became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) from which she retired just a few years ago. Along with working as a CPA, Pitsy enjoyed knitting, crocheting, ceramics, cross stitch and sewing. She created a legacy by knitting an afghan blanket for each of her children and grandchildren. The legacy continued when Pitsy won several blue ribbons at the New Mexico State Fair for her ceramic entries. She also became a certified ceramicist judge for the Fair. She joined the Catholic church in 1983 and worked with the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). In addition, Pitsy led bereavement groups, taught ceramics and served on the financial committee at St. Bernadette's Catholic Church.

Pitsy is survived by her four children: Barbara Thompson (Carl), Gail Randolph (John), Paul Chapman (Cindy) and David Chapman (Glory); her nine grandchildren: Michael Thompson (Michele), Bradley Thompson, Christine Airozo (Aaron), Eric Thompson, Catherine Zepp (Phillip), Lauren Shreve (Patrick), Molly Chapman, Ashley Barton (Joshua), and Jacob Chapman; her six great grandchildren: Gerek Thompson, McKenzie Thompson, Colton Thompson, Sierra Thompson, Brynlee Thompson, and Patton Zepp; and three great-great grandchildren: Ford Willard, Olivia Thompson, and Lillium Leschke.

Pitsy is preceded in death by her husband Fred Chapman, her granddaughter Alana Chapman Norwood, her sister Billye Fox and brother Courtney Reneau.
