Perry Lind Chase Sr. passed away Monday, June 17, 2019 at the age of 73.
He was a resident of ABQ for over 40 years. Chase served his country honorably during the Vietnam War and retired from the US Army in 1983 after 20 years of service. He was in the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne). Chase loved his fellow veterans, always remembering the Vietnam MIAs and found great comfort in attending ceremonies at the Angel Fire, New Mexico Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Chase was a Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans and a Life Member of the National Association for Uniformed Services.
Chase attended McKinley Jr. High and Sandia HS where he met his wife, Judith Wagner. They married in 1991. He and Judith celebrated many anniversaries and special occasions at the Red Lobster Restaurant on Montgomery.
Chase is survived by his sister, Sheryl; two sons, Christopher and Perry Jr; and four grandchildren. Through his marriage to Judith, he is also survived by her daughters, Elizabeth and Amanda. He was “Grampa” to Judith’s grandchildren, Josh, Ashley and Carol. He also adopted many dogs and cats.
After his military career, Chase worked in North Carolina and Virginia. After returning to Albuquerque, he took classes at TVI and was employed at Lovelace Medical Center, the Bernalillo County Correctional Facility and the Sandoval County Correctional Facility. He also worked at Rudy’s Bar-B-Q on Carlisle.
He was cremated and his ashes will be interred Monday, July 29, 2019 at Santa Fe National Cemetery. He will receive full military honors.
