Patricia Glass

d. February 2, 2022

Patricia Suzanne Martin Glass, 69, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on February 2, 2022.

She was born August 11, 1952, in Denver, CO, grew up in Los Alamos, New Mexico, spent her formative college years in Las Cruces, and lived the majority of her life in Albuquerque, where she raised three children and cared for a succession of very spoiled cats and Scottish Terriers. Patti was known for her intellect and command of language. She put her acumen for writing and editing to productive use in her career. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from New Mexico State University, and later completed a Master of Arts in Training and Learning Technologies at the University of New Mexico. She had a long and satisfying career in the field of distance learning, contracting for DOD, DOE, FEMA, and other federal agencies, ultimately landing at Sandia National Laboratories.

She was also a yoga and modeling instructor, belly dancer, painter, and poet.

Patti was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by her five siblings and their spouses; three children and their spouses; and five grandchildren. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors.

Patti was known for her creativity and her sense of humor. During her battle with cancer, she kept her spirits high, laughing, singing, and repeating Los Alamos Hilltopper cheerleading chants to the end.

She joins her parents, Robert and Elizabeth Martin, and her nephew, Captain Durwood “Rocky” “Hawk” Jones, in eternal peace.

A Private Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2022 in Albuquerque. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to one of the following: Casa Esperanza, NM Cancer Center Foundation, or Animal Humane NM.
