Orlando Samuel Romero, age 97, went peacefully with the Lord on Friday, October 22, 2021.
Orlando is survived by his niece, Cecilia Carter and her children, Germain Carter and Mary A. Carter; Rosendo "Ross" Baca and his wife, Patsy of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Gustavo V. Baca and his wife, Judy of Albuquerque, New Mexico; four generations of nieces and nephews; and Alfred Martinez Jr and son, Fernando Gallegos of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Orlando was preceded in death by his belated wife, Lydia Romero; parents, Jose Samuel, and Maria Rosenda Romero; and 13 of his siblings.
Orlando loved everyone and those who knew him would say the same! He was a lifelong man of faith and prayed constantly. He was a devoted Catholic and with great passion served St. Francis Xavier Parish. He also served in the United States Navy and ranked, First Class Seaman during World War II. He served in the same fleet along with so many other brave young soldiers who were all we needed to finish and win a war! As a very small token of appreciation, April Gallegos (his adopted granddaughter he would say) was able to recognize his service and award him his High School Diploma from RFK Charter High School. Class of 2021!! He has also been awarded a spot on the National WWII Honor Wall! Most important to him is now he has his palace in Heaven.
His gentle soul and heavenly smile will truly be missed by many!
May Your Beautiful Soul Rest in Eternal Peace Forever!
