Nellie Pacheco, age 86, beloved mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, and auntie was called to her eternal resting place on Saturday, July 15, 2023. She entered this world on May 11, 1937, in Burnham, NM, born to Chee and Marie Benally. She is survived by her daughter, Roberta Miller; sons, Carl Pacheco, Charles Pacheco and Robert Pacheco; grandsons, Matthew Miller, Erik Miller, Caleb Pacheco and Alexander Pacheco; granddaughters, Jordyn Miller and Grace Pacheco; son-in-law, Delford Miller; daughter-in-law, Carli Pacheco; sisters, Evelyn Ashley, Lois Lee, Lena Benally-Smith and Kathy Orr; and brothers, Gilbert and Andrew Benally; and multiple nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert Pacheco, Jr; grandson, Fahrion Miller; daughter-in-law, Kim Pacheco; brothers, David and James Benally; sisters, Alyce Medina, Elsie Benally and Lynda Eaton.
Nellie worked as a registered nurse for the majority of her life and is remembered as being witty, smart, caring and firm. She was most proud of her kids and grandchildren. She was the family matriarch and had friends from all over the nation. She enjoyed traveling, painting, crafting, Chinese food and her "perfect" grandchildren. She graduated from the Navajo Methodist Mission School and the University of New Mexico. She worked at multiple medical facilities in Albuquerque, was a member of the United Methodist Church and AAUW.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., High Desert United Methodist Church, 1201 Golf Course Rd, Rio Rancho, NM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the University of New Mexico College of Nursing Scholarship Fund, in memory of Nellie B. Pacheco.
