Michael E. "JR" Malouff

Michael E. Malouff, of Albuquerque, NM, passed away on November 15, 2018 at the age of 63.

Michael is predeceased by his mother, Florine Malouff, and father, Michael Malouff. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Patti Malouff and cherished family pet, Nelson. He is also sadly missed by his sister, Shelley Markham (Ben); brother, Dennis and half-brother, Ernest. He is also survived by his nephews, Steven Sanchez (Robyn), Gavin Markham, Loesha and Roman Malouff; niece, Mallory Spangler (Zach); great-nephew, Devon Sanchez; and numerous cousins.

Mike was born in Durango, CO on November 21, 1954. He graduated from East High School in Pueblo, CO in 1973 and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Colorado. He started his career in sales at Germer’s Levi stores in Pueblo, CO and moved to Albuquerque in 1979 where he began his long career in auto sales. He first worked at American Toyota and then moved to European Imports where his father, Michael, also worked and quickly rose to Sales Manager and ultimately General Manager. Since there were now two Michael Malouffs, the younger Mike was nicknamed “JR”, a name which he would carry with him the rest of his life. Mike (JR) became General Manager of Larry Miller American Toyota and part owner in 1991 where he would remain for the rest of his career and would be widely known as the “YES MAN.” His competitive nature and drive to be number “1” helped his store to continue to be a driving force in the Larry Miller Group throughout his career with the help of all his long standing and loyal employees. His favorite quote will continue to inspire many, “Be a student. Be a teacher. Be a leader.”

The celebration of his life will be held Monday, December 3, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Hoffmantown Church, 8888 Harper Rd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87111.
