Michael Edward Diaz

Michael Edward Diaz, of Albuquerque, New Mexico entered into eternal rest with Jesus on Friday, October 21, 2022, at the age of 43. Mike was born on May 8, 1979, in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Edward and Laura Diaz who resided in Grants, New Mexico.

Mike graduated from Grants High School with the class of 1998. After graduating High School, Mike explored employment opportunities in Denver, Colorado and Honolulu, Hawaii. Mike then settled on a career with CenturyLink beginning in 2000 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Mike continued to work for CenturyLink for 19 years and retired in 2019. Mike then entered into his dream job and became a stay-at-home dad, during COVID, for two years. Mike came out of retirement in 2021 and began a new career working in the IT Department at Presbyterian Hospital.

Mike married his high school sweetheart, Marissa (Garcia) Diaz on August 5, 2000, in Grants, New Mexico. Together they had two children, Nathan (18) and Aubrey (14). Mike and Marissa recently celebrated their 22-year marriage anniversary in August of this year and shared a beautiful life together. Mike and Marissa were each other's biggest fans. Mike and Marissa started a business together in 2021 and Mike worked diligently (as he always did) to ensure its success.

Mike was a dedicated husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He had a passion for hunting and looked forward to every hunting season, everything Dallas Cowboys, watching Nathan play football and run track, attending Aubrey's Volleyball games, and purely enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Mike was a very passionate and loyal man, his children absolutely adored him, and he truly lived for his family.

In his free time, Mike enjoyed welding, building things, and brainstorming what his next business venture would be. Mike was embracing Nathan being a senior in high school and was looking forward to seeing what the future held for Nathan. Mike was adjusting to his "baby girl" being a teenager and accepting the young woman that she is becoming.

Mike was preceded in death by grandmother-in-law, Patricia M. Garica; maternal grandfather, Gabriel Marquez; and brother, Matthew Diaz.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Marissa N. Diaz of Albuquerque, New Mexico; son, Nathan I. Diaz of Albuquerque, NM; daughter, Aubrey P. Diaz of Albuquerque, NM; parents, Edward and Laura Diaz of Grants, NM; sister, Michelle Collins and husband Greg of Colorado City, CO; nieces and nephews Jose, Destiny, Martin, and Abigail; brother-in-law, Richard Mascarenas and partner, Brooke Newby of Stroud, OK; niece, Westlyn; mother-in-law, Shari Garcia of Albuquerque, NM; maternal grandmother, Erlinda Marquez of Albuquerque, NM; and grandfather-in law, George Garcia of Grants, NM; and many other cousins, extended relatives, and many dear friends; and beloved pet Maudie.

A Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2022, beginning at 5:00 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 6:00 p.m., at FRENCH - Westside.
The Funeral Service will take place on Friday, October 28, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., at FRENCH - Westside.

Reception dinner will follow the Funeral Service on Friday, October 28, 2022, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at Lava Rock Brewing Company, 2220 Unser Blvd. NW Albuquerque, NM 87120.
