Mary Callahan

September 2, 1942 — January 17, 2018

Mary Callahan, 75, died January 17, 2018 in Albuquerque. She was born in Salt Lake City, UT, September 2, 1942. She is survived by her husband, Michael; son, John; daughter, Elizabeth Weese; and brothers, Gordon Pugh, Jeffrey Pugh and Kenneth Pugh. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Norman (Bill) Pugh and Dennis Pugh.

Mary had a degree in political science that showed itself from time to time. Early in her marriage she was a social worker, exposing her to the hardships of others. She was patient, kind, supportive. She had convictions on many topics, occasionally these were non-negotiable.

Mary had numerous medical afflictions that limited her physical ability. These never kept her from being a dedicated mom, devoted grandma and reliable friend.

Her family loved her. Mary was the strongest person we’ve known. She faced her increasing physical challenges with grace and courage. She loved us, she taught us her values. She poked at us to be better human beings.

Memorial Services will be held Monday, January 22, 2018, 11:00 a.m., at FRENCH – Wyoming, with a reception to follow. A subsequent Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, January 24, 2018, 11:00 a.m., at Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 East 1300 South in Salt Lake City, UT.
