Martha Elizabeth Terrazas

Martha Elizabeth Terrazas, age 83, beloved wife, mother of three daughters, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2016 surrounded by the family she loved. Martha was known for her devotion to her family, love of music, and social grace. She had a deep appreciation of Native American art and pottery, and was a lifetime collector. Martha was born in New Mexico and raised on a farm with eleven siblings. In high school she met Bert Terrazas, the love of her life. Martha traveled widely, as Bert's military career led to several relocations including postings at the Pentagon and Fort Lewis, WA, and included several trips abroad to Europe, Australia, Greece, Central America and Asia. When they retired, Martha and Bert returned to the land they loved and together they designed and built their dream home in Placitas, NM, where they hosted friends and many family holiday gatherings.
Martha is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Bert; her daughters and their husbands, Elizabeth and Michael Seeliger of Albuquerque, Cynthia and Kevin Keegan of Ashburn, VA, and Kathleen and Mark Wynkoop of Leesburg, VA; and her grandchildren, Shawn Martinez, Kelynn Keegan, and Joseph Keegan. She is also survived by her brothers, John and Max Baca; and sisters, Dorothy Sanchez, Sarah Kropp, Ida Chavez, and Mary Nilsen. She also leaves many cherished nieces and nephews. Also touching Martha's life were Glenda House and Karen Hustido, who provided many years of loving care. Martha was preceded in death by her father and mother, Juan de Dios and Romanita Baca; her brothers, David, Benjamin, Joseph and Reynaldo Baca, and her sister, Priscilla Otero.
A Rosary will be recited Sunday, November 27, 2016, 6:00 p.m., at FRENCH - Wyoming. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, November 28, 2016, 11:00 a.m., at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum Chapel, 7999 Wyoming Blvd. NE in Albuquerque. Entombment will follow. Pallbearers include John Baca, Christopher Terrazas, Shawn Martinez, Michael Seeliger, Kevin Keegan, and Mark Wynkoop. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Martha may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Albuquerque Chapter.
