Marilyn Dee Shaw gained her wings on Friday, October 14, 2022, at 9:26 a.m. in Rio Rancho, NM surrounded by family.
Marilyn was born December 17, 1939, to Ernest Eldo "Ernie" Warren and Edna Louise Warren in West Helena, Arkansas. Marilyn moved with her family to Artesia when she was 12 years old. Marilyn graduated from Artesia High School in 1957.
Marilyn married the love of her life, Harry Lee Shaw, on August 29, 1958, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Artesia. They had been married 58 years when Harry passed away in 2016.
Marilyn worked for the Artesia Public School system and Navajo Refinery before returning to school at 54 years of age to become a medical transcriptionist following which she worked for Hospice.
Marilyn loved to bake, scrapbook and quilt, ultimately making a quilt for every grandchild/great-grandchild when they graduated high school. Marilyn loved spending time with friends in Sorority. Marilyn also loved going along with her husband on hunting, fishing, and camping trips. In fact, after 38 years their children found out one of the nice bucks "daddy" shot early in their marriage was actually one she shot.
Marilyn cared for Harry for eight years as he suffered from Parkinson's with Lewy Body Dementia - finally relinquishing his care to Casa de Rosa Assisted Living in his final two weeks of life. Sadly, Marilyn's health began to decline shortly after Harry's death resulting in her residing the past 18 months at Casa de Rosa Senior Living where she was loved and cared for greatly by all members of the staff.
