Magdelene Lucero, age 69, beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Sister, was called to her eternal resting place on Saturday, January 18, 2020. She was born on Saturday, June 24, 1950 in Mora, NM, to Milnor and Dolores Vigil.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Seferino Lucero; daughter, Barbara Lucero-Martinez; son-in-law, Bill Martinez; son, Milnor Lucero; daughter-in-law, Kathy Lucero; and daughter, Anna Lucero-Martinez; granddaughters, Abrieanna Barela, Madison Lucero, and Payson Lucero; grandsons, Gavin Martinez, Caleb Martinez, and Bryson Lucero; brothers, Russel Vigil and wife Laura; Andrew Vigil, David Vigil and wife Dawn; sisters, Lina Castillo, Jeanette Paiz and husband David, Irene Archuleta and husband John, Darlene Espinoza and husband Gerard; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Milnor and Dolores Vigil; and brother, Melvin Vigil.
Magdelene was an employee of Sandia National Laboratories for 42 years. After retiring in 2010, she proudly earned two degrees, an Associate of Applied Science, and an Associate of Business. She had a variety of interests, but she loved being outdoors; planting and watering flowers and roses as well as sitting on the porch swing, visiting with her beloved grandchildren who called her Ma.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2020, 5:00 p.m. at FRENCH – University and A Rosary will be recited after at 6:00 p.m. Refreshments will follow the rosary. Mass will be held on Friday, January 24, 2020, 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, 10- A North 10th St. Belen, NM.
The burial will take place on Monday, January 27, 2020, 9:45 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery Those who wish to attend the burial may follow in the procession from FRENCH - University in Albuquerque (departure time will be 8:00 am).
Pallbearer’s are her brothers Russell Vigil, Andrew Vigil, David Vigil; grandson Gavin Martinez; nephews Kevin Vigil and James Vigil.
Honorary Pallbearer’s grandsons Caleb Martinez and Bryson Lucero.
The immediate family would like to thank PCM Nurses Rhonda and Debra, also the staff at Presbyterian Healthcare Services.
A special thank you to Lydia & Gloria for their friendship and support of our mom and those who prayed and supported us during this time.
