Lucy Lopez, 66, passed away Saturday, August 21, 2021. She was a pillar of strength and fortitude. Lucy was a known wrecking ball no matter where she went. She to took control over any and every situation. Whether we wanted her to or not. She raised more than her own children and taught each and every one of them to be strong and not let anyone take them for granted. Lucy loved to dance and laugh and spend time with her family. It didn't matter what we were doing. She especially liked to do arts and crafts with the younger of her grandchildren. When she loved she loved hard, with her whole heart. Lucy was very giving of her time and attention when someone needed help, no matter who or what, she was always willing to be there without hesitation. She had so many friends who felt like family. And they all loved her like a sister.
She married Richard Lopez on August 20, 1976 after meeting him through Theresa and Steve. Richard was working on a building as an ironworker in Grants when he first saw her. They spent the next 46 years raising their kids and helping to raise grandkids and many others. Together they baptized just as many.
Lucy was born to Mary and Pablo Jaramillo on October 9, 1954. She is survived by her husband, Richard Lopez; her kids, Angela Roybal, Rosalia Ervin, and Ricardo Lopez; 11 grandchildren, Luciano, Miranda, Destiny, Taya, Mario, Maya, Stephan, Martin, Skyla, Kayla, and Aiko; and her many godchildren. She is also survived by three brothers, Thomas Flores, Frank Flores, and Antonio Jaramillo.
