Jutta M. Gaiter, nee Brueckner, 76, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2020 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Jutta was born in Berlin, Germany to Gerhard and Marga Brueckner, nee Hedderich on October 27, 1943. She married Joseph Gaiter on December 22, 1968 in Connellsville, Pennsylvania. She worked as a retail manager for the Army Air Force Exchange Services (AAFES) for several years. Jutta was very active with the Albuquerque High School’s Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) program and was fondly referred to by the cadets as “Mama Gaiter”. She was a staunch supporter of our U.S. Military servicemen and servicewomen and donated to many charitable organizations, both locally and nationally.

Jutta is survived by her husband, Command Sergeant Major Joseph Gaiter (Retired Army) of Albuquerque, New Mexico; daughter, Manuela A. Gaiter, and daughter-in-law, former Army Sergeant Joan F. Dowd of Albuquerque, New Mexico; son, Master Sergeant Terry Gaiter (Retired Marine Corps); and daughter-in-law Mary T. Gaiter of San Antonio, Texas and son, former Army Specialist Jerry Gaiter, daughter-in-law, Sarah Gaiter of San Diego, California. Jutte leaves behind eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces and great-nephews and great-nieces. She is also survived by her cousin, Angela Krueger of Berlin, Germany; brother-in-law, Courtney Gaiter and his wife Marci of Lima, Ohio; sister-in-law, Josephine Robinson and her husband Herman of Blair, South Carolina. The family wishes to include their extended family, Bob and Shirley White of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Donna White and family of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The family of Jutta would like to thank all of their family, friends, and neighbors for their support and prayers. Jutta was a member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church in Connellsville, Pennsylvania, and her family thank them for their prayers during this challenging time. They would all like to thank the staff at FRENCH Funerals - Cremations, Inc., and the medical staff at the Presbyterian Hospitals, as well as the paramedics who took good care of her during her final days and hours. Your support, compassion, and kindness are truly appreciated.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 21, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at FRENCH – Lomas.  A private family burial will follow at the Veterans National Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico. A Reception will be held after interment at FRENCH – Lomas.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in honor of Jutta to one of her favorites charities: Wounded Warriors, Make-A-Wish Foundation, D.A.V., or Fisher House; or, one that you feel would be appropriate.
