Joseph L. Salazar died peacefully on July 15, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. Joseph was born on March 20, 1936, in Raton, NM, and traveled the world during his military career. After retiring from the Air Force, he settled down in Albuquerque. He married his high school sweetheart Annie Ortega on August 25, 1958, and they were married for 60 years and 11 months. They had four children, nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He joined the Air Force in 1954 and retired as a Chief Master Sergeant in 1978. He also worked in Civil Service and retired from there in 1995. While in Albuquerque, he went to school and received his MBA in Accounting.
Joseph enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling to Spain and Mexico. He had many hobbies which included fishing, golfing, and collecting. He had an amazing talent for bead work and woodwork.
A Rosary will be recited Monday, July 22, 2019, 7:00 p.m., at FRENCH – Wyoming. Friends and family may visit beginning at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, July 23, 2019, 9:30 a.m., at Risen Savior Catholic Community, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE. A reception will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the FRENCH – Wyoming Reception Center. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:15 p.m.
