It is with a very heavy heart that we announce the passing of our dear father, Jose Leon "Leo" Gonzales, on November 1, 2016. He was born in Lemitar, NM on May 22, 1921 to Hilario Julian and Priscilla (Benavidez) Gonzales. He was a World War II veteran and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the South Pacific. He married Tomasita "Tommie" Aragon in March of 1946 in Socorro, NM. Shortly after they were married, they moved to Albuquerque where they raised six children, Ron (Lila) Gonzales of Phoenix, AZ, Larry (Susan) Gonzales of Thornton, CO, Mary Rael of Albuquerque, Chuck Gonzales of Dallas, TX, Joseph Gonzales of Albuquerque and Judi Darling of Queen Creek, AZ. He was the grandpa to 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Tomasita (Aragon) Gonzales. Jose worked for the U.S. Post Office for 34 years. He will be remembered for his kind and gentle nature, and his absolute devotion to his family.
Rosary will be recited Thursday, November 3, 2016, 7:00 p.m., at FRENCH - Wyoming. Graveside Services will be held Friday, November 4, 2016, 9:00 a.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
