The art world is a little less bright today. It is with the heaviest of hearts that I tell you my wonderful mom has lost her battle with cancer on January 28, 2017, at the early age of 68. She was best known for her many years of creating art, mostly of the animals that she loved so much, and her "smoked pots" as she always joked. She was the feistiest woman I ever knew, yet would help any stranger or any stray animal she came across. All my friends that knew her called her "mom" and she was a friend to anyone in need. She loved donating her time and her art for any local fundraiser I happened to be involved with, and in the later years, anything having to do with cancer research.
She is survived by death by her husband of nearly 25 years, Bobby Snider of Bosque Farms; and daughter, Kimberly Shay of Albuquerque - we will miss her very much. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Rolland Burke and Emily Claire Burke of Richland Center, WI.
There will not be a memorial service per her request. Memorial contributions may be made to UNM Cancer Research and Treatment Center, cancer.unm.edu.
