James Elmer "Jim" Ottino Jr

James E. "Jim" Ottino, Jr., age 92, a resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, January 6, 2017, at the New Mexico State Veterans Home. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary Lou; four children, Terri Cappelle (Bill), James W. Ottino (JoLou Trujillo-Ottino), Jan Diewald, and Carol Torres (George); daughter-in-law, Caryn Barre; grandchildren, Jennifer Candelaria, Christopher Ottino, Gregory Ottino, Douglas Ottino, Jennifer Lowery (Danny), Andrew Diewald (Cherilyn), Brent Barre, Ryan Barre, Sean Barre, Branden Murray (Marke), Jason Anderson (Michelle) and George Torres, Tammy Velasquez (Randy); great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Lauren, Shelbie, Jacob, Megan, Andrew, Morgan, and Rebecca; and numerous other relatives and friends. Jim was preceded in death by daughter, Cherry Lynn Ottino; son, Ted Barre; and several brothers and sisters. He was born in 1924 in Portsmouth, OH and before graduating from high school, enlisted in the United States Navy, where he proudly served during WWII and the Korean Conflict. Jim then moved to Albuquerque where he went to work for Mountain Bell from which he retired in 1976. He was active in Temple 6 Lodge where he was Past Master and in Eastern Star where he was Worthy Grand Patron. Jim was also active in the Methodist Church in Truth or Consequence, NM. He loved to golf. Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was loved by many. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2017, 10:00 a.m. at Temple #6 Lodge, AF and AM, 3801 Osuna Rd. NE, 87109. Interment of cremated remains will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Jim's name to the New Mexico State Veteran's Home, 992 South Broadway, Truth or Consequences, NM 87901. Jim's family would like to express a special thanks to all of the staff at the New Mexico State Veteran's Home, and to Doctors Greg and Janetzko for their loving care for all of them.
