On Sunday, September 18, 2022, Eve passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loving family. Eve was born Monday, May 10, 1926, in Tucumcari, NM, to Theresa and Ray Sierra.
After high school graduation she answered the call to support our country by working in a military factory making airplane parts. She met her future husband, Pete Lujan, while in high school and they were married when he returned from the war. Eve held several jobs to support Pete through college and then began her full-time career of 35+ years, raising their 5 children.
Volunteering was important to her, and Eve spent many years working at The Bargain Box thrift store. Her children especially enjoyed the treasures she would bring home from work! She also served many hours at Our Lady of Assumption Annual Super Sale where she was famous for her red chile.
Eve enjoyed her life until the end. She loved attending family functions and everyone's delicious food. Her family visited her often and she loved to reminisce about eating at the China Star, dancing at the Caravan East or one of her many trips to Las Vegas. She told each of her children "you're my favorite!" and this causes fun bickering at family gatherings. Although her sight was diminished the last few years, she took great pleasure in having the Bible read to her on a daily basis.
Eve was preceded in death by her husband, Peter; son, Peter Mark; sister, Rosina Flores; and brother, Lawrence Sierra. She is survived by her children, Steven Lujan of Maui, Hawaii, Patricia Reed and husband Gerald Demarest of Albuquerque, Michael Lujan and wife Rhonda of Roswell, and David Lujan of Albuquerque. She has been blessed with eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, and nephews.
Her nephew, Bobby Newton has been her roommate, best friend, and caretaker for the past 13 years. Our family is incredibly grateful for the loving care Bobby has provided for our mom!
