Edward Garcia

Edward Garcia, Age 76, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 21, 2022, with his loved ones by his side. He was a beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Uncle, Cousin and Friend. Edward was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He grew up in Martinez Town and attended Albuquerque High School where he participated in track and field. He honorably served in the United States Marine Corps; and after many years of service, retired from the City of Albuquerque Transit Department. Edward loved fitness and Athletics. He was a devoted bodybuilder and competitor. Edward won several titles while competing and one of his biggest accomplishments was Mr. USA 1986. Some of his passions and hobbies were lifting, hunting, fishing, and traveling with family and friends.

He will be lovingly remembered and missed dearly by his wife of 54 years, Nellie Garcia; his son, Damion Garcia; daughter, Lisa Chavez; his grandchildren, Steven Mize, Shanay Chavez, Yvaliz Dow, Fabian Garcia, Daniel Urioste, Samuel Chavez, and Sheila Chavez; and great-granddaughter, Ysabella Placencia. He was preceded in death by his mother, Isabel B. Benavidez; and beloved son, Edward J. Garcia.

A Rosary followed by a Mass will be held on Friday, November 4, 2022, 9:30 a.m., at St. Therese of the Infant Jesus Catholic Church, 300 Mildred Ave. NW. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Pallbearers will be Damion Garcia, Fabian Garcia, Steven Mize, Shanay Chavez, Daniel Urioste, Elias Urioste, Samuel Chavez, and Sheila Chavez.
