Douglas Michael Smith

Douglas Michael Smith, age 67, a dedicated father/grandfather and accomplished Albuquerque entrepreneur/educator. passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2021. Doug was known for his love of science. Nanocool, LLC, Doug's most recent venture, was meaningful to him in many ways and he cared deeply about his employees. Cooking was a passion of Doug's always promising that one day he would write a cookbook, with a forward by Pamela Anderson. He didn't go a day of his life without joking and wore shorts and sandals no matter what the weather. He is survived by his daughter, Hattie Foote, son in law, Christopher Foote and his grandchildren, Lux and Hunter Foote. He is also survived by his mother, Doris Smith, and brother Jeff Smith. He also leaves many cherished cousins and friends. Doug was preceded in death by his father, Robert Smith and sister, Christine Smith. A Celebration of Life will be held when we are all able to gather again. Memorial contributions may be made to New Heart Center for Wellness, New Mexico Appleseed, UNM Cancer Center.
