Doris Eloise McCann

Doris Eloise McCann, age 94, died August 9, 2016 at home. She is survived by her son, Terry Grindstaff of Alexandria, VA; another son, Michael and his wife, Carrie, and her granddaughter, Linnea of Seattle; her daughter, Patricia of Albuquerque, and her grandsons, Christopher of Farmington, AR and Peter of Charlottesville, VA, and another granddaughter, Katrina of Las Vegas. She has seven great-grandchildren, Maria Luisa, Noah, Lucas, Maya, Kendra, Keilah, and Kamryn.

Doris graduated from the West Suburban Hospital School of Nursing in Oak Park, IL, in 1944. As a Registered Nurse she joined the US Army Nurse Corps and served one year as a 2nd Lieutenant until peace was declared. She pursued her nursing career in Chicago, moved to Albuquerque in 1951, and worked at the different hospitals and as private duty nurse.

A service with military honors will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at Santa Fe National Cemetery promptly at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Animal Humane Society of New Mexico, P.O. Box 27827, Albuquerque, NM 87125-7827.
