Donaldo L. Atencio

Donaldo L. Atencio, age 73, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather, was called to his eternal resting place on Tuesday, November 23, 2021.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Nick Atencio and Emma Archuleta; his brothers, Pat Atencio and Adrian Archuleta, and his sister, Lorraine Archuleta. Don was born on August 7, 1948, in Monte Vista, CO. He was drafted into the US Army in 1968 and served 20 years, retiring to make Rio Rancho, NM his home. He worked several jobs following retirement, but continued to work on cars, which was his passion. Don loved to hunt, fish, watch football and enjoy his man cave in the garage.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Atencio; daughters, Pamela (Nathan) Atencio, Natalie Atencio (Anthony Bounds), Vanessa (Greg) Mullen; grandsons, Brian Atencio, Brandon Atencio, and Ethan Mullen; great-grandsons, Jordan, Nike, and Andre Atencio; his best friend and partner in crime, Cedric Jones and his crazy cat, Flash Dash.

Don has chosen cremation and will be laid to rest at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM with full military honors.
