Daniel (Dan) Crawley passed away Sunday night, July 31, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Jean Crawley. He is survived by his wife, Celine Crawley; his son, Joshua Crawley; daughter, Cecilia (CJ) Crawley; daughter-in-law, Clarissa Crawley; father, Ed Crawley; sister, Joyce Berg; and many nephews and nieces, all of whom Dan loved very much!
Dan worked in the grocery business, beginning at Johnnies Market in 1972. In 1973 his parents, Ed and Shirley bought Johnnies where the whole family worked together. In November of 1980 the Crawley family bought Fair N Square Food Store and ran both stores for two years until they sold Johnnies and continued to run Fair N Square for many years. When Ed and Shirley retired, Dan and his sister, Joyce continued the family business until September of 2016, when they closed the doors for the final time to retire and enjoy some rest. Dan made so many friends with customers and the many different people he worked with while in the business.
Dan and Celine began dating in 1980 after meeting at Fair and Square. Celine was a new employee and after turning down Dan's multiple requests for a date, she finally said yes. They had their first date at Quarter's BBQ and the rest was history. They married in 1986 and then began their family. Dan and Celine shared so many incredible memories together. From trips to Hawaii, riding in a hot air balloon, playing billiards, or simply enjoying the comfort of each other's company, the two spent 42 wonderful years together.
Dan was most proud of his children Joshua and CJ. He always told people how happy and proud he was that they grew to follow their own dreams and paths. His children would not be the people they are today without his love and support.
A lover of music, Dan could always be found listening to classic rock and air guitaring in his living room. He loved duck hunting and Indy Car racing, but mostly loved baseball and the Dodgers. Dan made sure to take his family to so many baseball games, both AAA and major league! His biggest joy was taking his wife and children on vacations to go fishing and camping. In his retirement, Dan enjoyed spending time with his friends, either just hanging out or playing their weekly poker games and appreciated having the time to spend with them.
Dan touched many lives and will be greatly missed by so many people. May he rest in Peace! A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, 11:00 a.m., at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 811 Guaymas Pl NE, with a Rosary from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
