Dale Eugene Bobb

Dale Eugene Bobb passed away Monday, May 7th 2018 at his home. He was surrounded by his wife Jean, and sons Kevin, Jubal, and Heath; as well as his grandson Cameron.

Dale was born July 22nd, 1936 in South Bend, Indiana- the second child to Harold and Floy (Bossick) Bobb. Following his sister Betty, the family moved to New Mexico when Dale was a very young child settling in San Marcial and later Socorro as his father was a telegraph operator with the railroad. The family eventually settled in Bernalillo where his mother owned and operated a laundry and his father became a union carpenter. Dale’s parents later moved to the North Valley in Albuquerque. Dale met Phyllis Jean (Heath), his wife to be and lifelong partner, in Bernalillo as they attended the “Brothers” and “Sisters” schools until both went to Bernalillo High School during the second year it was open.

As quiet a person as you may ever meet, he was strong in silence and gathered respect in his actions. After going together for 4 years, Dale and Jean married on March 9, 1954.They lived in a small apartment on Menaul before buying their first house in the North Valley in 1957.They lived there for 5 years while building their family home next door. They welcomed 3 sons into the family: Kevin in 1959, Jubal in 1961, and Heath in 1967.

Dale was a Teamster with Navajo Freight Lines for 38 years before retiring in 1991. A longtime member of the New Mexico Trials Association, he was a multi-time State Champion in his respective class. A lifelong motorcycle and truck enthusiast, Dale built a 1951 Willys pickup which was the first “monster truck” in Albuquerque, long before they became popular. In retirement Dale and Jean enjoyed the close friendships of the Excel RV club along with many friends from childhood and high school.

Dale is survived by his wife Jean; sister Betty Oracion and family; son Kevin, his wife Cindy, grandson Spencer; son Jubal, his wife Susan, grandsons Quinton and Cameron, son Heath, his wife Margaret, and granddaughter Espie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Floy (Bosstick) Bobb.

Viewing will be held Thursday, May 10th 2018 between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at FRENCH - University. Funeral Service will be held Friday, May 11th at 1:00 p.m. at FRENCH - University. Interment will follow the service at Sandia Memory Gardens - 9500 San Pedro Dr. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87113. A memorial will be also be held at the Heath Family Reunion June 17th, 2018 in the Jemez Mountains.
