Betty Catherine Frederick-Sowell, 92, was called home on Saturday, June 29, 2019 after living her final years with many challenges of declining health. Betty was born on Sunday, October 24, 1926 at home in Hornbeak, TN to Charlie Jackson and Mary Louise Davis. She was the fourth of six children.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Davis; sisters, Marguerite Barker, Anna Laura McCullough, Joan Miller, Louise Moultrie; her husband of 33 years, Herbert Lee Frederick; and 2nd husband William G. Sowell.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Kathie of Albuquerque, and Connie and husband Denton of Ruidoso, NM; grandchildren, Christi Colvin of Taos, NM and Emily and husband Drew Driver of Aledo, TX; two great-grandchildren, Weston and Jaxson Driver. She is also survived by William Sowells daughters, Kathy Stansbury of Benbrook, TX, Terri and husband Doug King, granddaughters Victoria and Elizabeth of Albuquerque, NM; one brother-in-law, Bobby Moultrie of Union City, TN; one sister-in-law, Rose Price of Knoxville, TN; and many nieces and nephews.
Betty spent her last two years living at Elite Senior Cares, Whitney House being cared for by a group of the finest caregivers, and the most amazing staff at Heartland Hospice. They kept her comfortable up to and in her final days.
Betty was working at the Employment office in Union City, TN when she met Herbert. They were married July 7, 1950 moving to Los Alamos, NM where they started a new life for the next 33 years, until his death in 1983. She worked for the County before stopping to start their family. She returned to work at Title Guarantee once her children were in Junior High School and worked there until she retired in 1982. In 1985 she moved to Albuquerque where she married Bill and lived for the remainder of her life. She was a member of Mountainside Church of Christ. She loved her family, reading, going out for afternoon coffee, and a good meal at Cracker Barrel.
Friends may visit Monday, July 8, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at FRENCH -Lomas with services starting at 4:00 p.m. Betty's final resting place will be at Antioch Baptist Cemetery in Hornbeak, TN.
