Zeta Murdock Abrahamson

Zeta Murdock Abrahamson peacefully passed away in her home at age 94 on March 23, 2015. She was born to Seth and Maude (Sturdivant) Murdock in Chickalah, Arkansas on June 7, 1920. She graduated from Conway State Teachers College at age 19 and taught high school English for a year in rural Arkansas. Returning to school for business classes, Zeta attended Phillips University and went to work in the Pentagon, the youngest person there at the time. After transfer to Denver, Colorado with the Civil Service, she met Vincent Abrahamson at the office and they married on January 7, 1950. They moved to Albuquerque in 1957. Zeta later worked for Albuquerque Public Schools as a substitute teacher, accepting jobs in all of the city high schools. Vince passed away on February 9, 1984. Zeta's two younger sisters Theora "Tiny" Murdock Grimes, McKinney, Texas and Janice Murdock Gideon, Dardanelle, Arkansas, preceded her in death. Zeta is survived by two children, daughter Carol Snyder and husband Matthew, Oskaloosa, KS,; son Seth Abrahamson and wife Betty, Farmington, NM.; and six grandchildren. John Abrahamson, son, Albuquerque, died March 29, 2011. Zeta was a faithful member of Sombra del Monte Christian Church, an avid reader, letter writer, proud grandmother and a supporter of many humanitarian causes. It was many years before her children could finally win a game of Scrabble against her. Zeta is lovingly remembered and admired as a good Christian, a wonderful mother and grandmother, and an independent woman. Zeta's kitchen window faced the mountains, Psalm 121:1, I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 18th, 2015 at Sombra del Monte Christian Church, 2525 Vermont St. NE, 87112.
