Yvonne Diann (Armbruster) Damerow

Yvonne Diann Damerow, age 84, passed away on Monday, May 10, 2021 in Albuquerque. Yvonne was born in Minnesota on February 9, 1937. She graduated from Northwestern Hospital School of Nursing in 1957. She moved to Albuquerque and worked as a registered nurse until 1981, then as a pharmaceutical representative until her retirement in 1996.

Her children are Cynthia Kaye Damerow of Rio Rancho and the late Michelle Renee Dean, who passed away in May 2007. She is also survived by her former husband, Richard Damerow of Albuquerque; sister, Emron Montgomery of Omaha, NE; brother, Darrell Armbuster of Cokato, MN; and son-in law, Merrick Dean of Albuquerque.

She was active at Christ Lutheran Church with the choir and the Board of Human Care. Yvonne had a lovely soprano singing voice and especially enjoyed singing with the Albuquerque Civic Chorus for many years. She traveled frequently to Cancun, Mexico and other places in the world with friends and family.

Yvonne had many losses in her life, but still loved dressing up and socializing and was very active until her health began to decline about 10 years ago. The resultant hospitalizations and procedures were hard on her, but she mostly maintained her feisty and cheerful nature.

Thanks are due to Brio Assisted Living for their care these past 4 1/2 years. Also, appreciation to Marcia and Al for the rides to many, many doctor's appointments and help with supports of all kinds.

Yvonne's faith was in Jesus. She knew she was going to Heaven because of what He did. At one point during the last week of her life, she said "This dying isn't so bad after all. It's kind of wonderful. "

There will be a memorial service for Yvonne on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at 10:00 a.m., at Christ Lutheran Church.
