Wilma Boyer

October 29, 1926 — March 5, 2014

Wilma Westmoreland Boyer, our beloved wife and mother, passed away peacefully at home in the arms of her family on March 5, 2014, in Woodbridge, Virginia. Wilma was born Oct. 29, 1926, in Patterson, Missouri, to Willard and Ollie Kathryn (Wilcox) Westmoreland. Her husband, Bill Twidwell, preceded her in death in July 1953. On September 30, 1956, she married Charles Francis Boyer, and they settled in Taos, New Mexico, where Charles was living. A daughter, Pamela Kathryn, born to Wilma and Bill Twidwell in 1954, was adopted by Charles in 1958. Wilma lived in Taos, Raton, Artesia, Albuquerque, and Moriarty, New Mexico, for almost 50 years before returning to Missouri and then moving to Virginia. Wilma retired from the telephone company in 1983, having worked for Southwestern Bell in St. Louis and Mountain Bell in New Mexico since 1948. She recently said work was her hobby, but she also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, gardening, and square dancing. Wilma was predeceased by her parents; brother, Winfred Westmoreland, and sister, Annie Marie Westmoreland. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Charles F. Boyer, Springfield, Virginia; daughter, Pamela Kathryn Boyer Sayre and son-in-law, Richard G. Sayre, Springfield, Virginia; nephew, Kenneth D. Westmoreland (wife Teresa), St. Louis, Missouri; stepbrothers, Clecy Lee Westmoreland (wife Edith), of Bowling Green, Missouri, and Bob Westmoreland (wife Mary Ann) of Bonne Terre, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Erma Vestine Yount, St. Louis, Missouri, and Shirley Reynolds (husband Ray), Princeton, West Virginia; "extra daughter" Christy Crawford, Phelan, California; and numbers of nieces and nephews and life-long friends. A Celebration Service honoring Wilma's life will be held Friday, March 14, 2014, 10:00 a.m. at FRENCH - Lomas followed by burial at 2:15 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
