CPO William "Butch" Chesterfield, 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, November 29th, 2022. He was born to William and Virginia Chesterfield on Wednesday, December 29, 1943, in Terre Haute, IN and later relocated to Florida where he was raised.
Butch was a decorated veteran who served 23 years in the Air Force and Navy. He was deployed for 3 tours in Vietnam where he served as a combat photographer. After he left the military, he worked for the Poway Unified School District for 20 years. He began as an AV tech and retired as a computer network designer. Shortly after retiring and relocating to the East Mountains of New Mexico, he bought Coffee at Dawn where he became a fixture in the community.
Those that knew Butch would agree that he was an amazing human being. Husband, father, brother, hero, sailor, artist, collector, friend, and so much more. He lived life always helping others and giving generously to everyone he met. No one was a stranger, everyone was family.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Chesterfield; his daughters, Kim Chesterfield (Kate) and Shannon Chesterfield; his brother, Kenny Chesterfield; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
