William J. Kline

September 24, 1922 — June 30, 2013

William J. Kline, also known as Bill by his friends and Geed by his son's friends, was born September 24, 1922 in Hillsdale, Michigan to Rhea (Bly) Kline and Ora Kline. Bill, the youngest of four, joined his brother Dick and sisters Ruth Ross and Martha Chase in the hereafter on June 30, 2013. Dad is survived by his loving children: Sandy Bera (Steve) of Michigan, Carol Kline (Ric) of Albuquerque, Lou Kline (Angie) of Michigan, Lee Kline (Carrie) of Virginia and Kevin Kline of Michigan, as well as 11 grandchildren, 7 ½ great grandchildren, 6 nieces and nephews, 4 granddogs and many friends. With great genes in his family, he lived to the ripe age of 90, with a birthday celebration he was able to spend with many family and friends. Dad, a Veteran of the Coast Guard during World War II, was a man with a great sense of humor (never forgot a joke!) and of hidden talents most people didn't know about! He enjoyed writing limericks-usually on the humorous side, adding wonderful little drawings to the limerick. What a great publication of his limericks and drawings we could have had! Dad retired from Warren Fastener, a division of Black and Decker in Michigan, before moving to Albuquerque from Michigan in 1994, where he joined daughter Carol in the Land of Enchantment! Soon, he became a Volunteer at the Natural History Museum and became very involved in Civitan, an international community service organization. He joined the Rio Grande Civitan Club, then later, the Route 66 Civitan Club. He was Civitan of the Year in Rio Grande and received the prestigious Club Honor Key, as well. Dad was, also, a Member of the President's Council, in support of the Civitan International Research Center. He always looked forward to Civitan functions and traveling to Civitan District meetings, where he would see his many friends. Dad was a kind, generous man and one of the best natured people we've ever known, never saying a bad word about anyone. (Well, there is one great story!!) We hope we inherited his sense of humor and his memory. We have a void in our hearts; but remembering his quick sense of humor puts a smile on our faces. If you wish to make donations in his name, you may send them to UAB Civitan International Research Center, CIRC 329, 1530 3rd Ave. South, Birmingham, AL 35294.
