William "Billy" Lee Hammer

December 13, 1991 - October 13, 2024

William "Billy" Lee Hammer left this life and moved into his next adventure on October 13, 2024. He is survived by his parents, William and Carolynn Hammer; his sisters, Shalada, Ria, Amanda, and Hannah; their spouses, Nicholas, Lisa, Walter, and Jeremy; his nieces and nephews, Claire, Gregory, Owan, Ace, Asher, Joey, Nathan, Edward, TJ, Cole, Beau, and Kiera; his grandfather, Chuck Hammer; and many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.

William was known by many different names, including Billy, Son, Brother, Funcle (the fun uncle), friend, and companion, just to name a few. Probably best known for his colorful hair, he was a fun-loving, gentle, and adventurous soul, who was creative, caring, and had the ability to always make you laugh and smile. He was born in Albuquerque, NM, and grew up in Veguita, NM with his parents, and four older sisters. He attended and graduated from Belen High School and for many years worked at the local Wal-Mart. Over the last ten years, William lived in New Mexico, Las Vegas, NV, and San Tan Valley, AZ, before coming back to New Mexico last year. William was the kind of family member and friend who would lend a listening ear and would do what he could to help those he loved and cared about. He was an avid Pokémon Go player and made many connections through his love of the game.

William will be dearly missed by all who knew and were touched by his special spirit. Before his passing, his final act of kindness was to give the gift of life through organ and tissue donation. It is our hope that those who receive these gifts will feel the love that he had for others and we are grateful that through his gift of donation, he will continue to help others.

William’s Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 9, 2024, 9:00 a.m., at the Los Lunas LDS Church, 160 James St. NW, Los Lunas, NM 87031. Those who want to attend are encouraged to come with their most colorful hair and outfits to honor and celebrate the color and joy he brought to others.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to any organization that supports individuals and families who experience mental health concerns/challenges.

The family would like to thank everyone for all the love, support, prayers, and well wishes that they have received.
