Daril Gutscher passed away at his place of residence on May 13, 2024. Daril was born on June 5, 1933 in Ft. Madison Iowa and grew up in a mostly rural environment. At the age of 13 he and his family moved to Ft. Collins, Colorado where he attended high school and college. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the Colorado State College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts (now known as Colorado State University). He later earned a Master's degree in the same discipline from the University of New Mexico. His career was split between Sandia National Laboratories and the Los Alamos National Laboratories.
Daril met his wife, Dorothy (Swain) after he had moved to Albuquerque. They were married for 56 years before her passing in 2014. Daril is survived by his sons Mark (wife Diane) and David (wife Mary) as well as his grandson Brian. He was preceded in death by his sisters Francis and Lynda, as well as his beloved granddaughter Alicia.
Daril was involved in several sports during his life including Skiing, Table Tennis, bowling, and golf. It was golf which became his true passion. He played at least weekly with his golfing group 'The Romeos'. He also built four houses of his own during his life.
Daril was a member of the Central United Methodist Church and developed many friends from the Partnership Sunday School class. He was instrumental in establishing the church's daycare program (Little Sunbeams) as well as their Columbarium. He greatly enjoyed singing in the choir and as part of the Central Chordsmen quartet.
Daril spent the last two years of his life at The Watermark Assisted Living and Memory Care facility and was very appreciative of their love and care when he really needed it.
A memorial service will be held at Central United Methodist Church on June 29, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. Memorial donations may be made to Central United Methodist Church.
