William Gonzales

September 1, 1930 — July 13, 2022

Albuquerque

William Gonzales (Sgt. First Class P1 Retired), 91, beloved father, grandfather and uncle went to his eternal resting place on July 13, 2022. He is predeceased by his loving wife Alice and grandson Jacob Shroyer. He is survived by his 6 children: Linda, Frances, Billy, Robert (spouse Susan), Shirley and Juanita (spouse Charles); his 5 grandchildren: Angela, Beth (spouse Eli), Bobby Jr., Frank, and Benjamin; his 7 great-grandchildren: Alyssa, Cisco, Casandra, Roman, Alice, Jayden, and Colby. He was raised In Colorado by his Aunt Porfiria Rael and Barney Gonzales. After his aunt's passing, he enlisted in the US Army. He was deployed to Korea (2 Tours) and Vietnam. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal (Vietnam), Commendation Medal with "V" Device for Heroism (Vietnam), Korean War Service Medal with 1 Silver Star and 3 Bronze Stars and numerous other military citations and commendations. He served for 20 years then retired from the Army. After his Army retirement for many years, he worked for Sherwin-Williams Co. and Wellborn Paint. He had a long and blessed full life with his wife, children, grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed as he was the center of his children's lives. He is and has always been "Our Hero". May he rest in peace until we meet again. The family would like to thank the Kindred Hospice team and Simplicity Home Care Staff and are grateful for the excellent care he received the last few weeks of his life. Rosary will be held Monday, July 25, 2022, at 5:00 pm, Eulogy at 5:30 with visitation and a reception to follow at FRENCH-Wyoming. Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Assumption Church (Lomas/Tennessee) with Father Edward Domme presiding. Grave site service to follow immediately thereafter at Gate of Heaven Cemetery (Wyoming & Paseo Del Norte) with military honors. Pallbearers will be his son Robert, son-in-law Charles, grandsons Bobby Jr., Frank and Benjamin, nephews Andy and Ricky. Honorary Pallbearers will be Eli, great-grandsons Cisco and Roman and Gene Garcia.
