On the 30th day of January at 11:00 a.m., William (Papa) Fragua received his reward and transitioned to be with the Lord due to natural causes.
B orn December 1, 1926 he was the son of Andrea Toledo and Pablito (Paul) Fragua of Jemez Pueblo, New Mexico. He was one of five children. He was a man of faith, family, and fellowship.
William was a man of service throughout his life. William married Agnes Montoya at the San Diego Mission in Jemez Pueblo on November 25, 1946. They are the parents of Patricia Louise, Rose Therese, William Gregory, and Dwayne Keith. William retired from the Bureau of Indian Affairs after working with the Albuquerque Indian School as a counselor. In addition, he also worked at Chinle Boarding School in Many Farms, Arizona as an Athletic Director. He was also a dedicated coach and referee. He was a devote lover of athletics and education. Education was important; not only for his family but also for everyone he knew.
William proudly served in World War II in the United States Navy and fought in the Pacific. He also obtained his Pastoral degree in Ministry at Owasso Bible College in Owasso Michigan and had over 60 years in ministry. After retirement in 1990, William pastored All Nations Indian Assembly of God full time. One of his passions was going to the hospital to visit the sick and taking his daily walks in the mall to meet and pray with people when needed. He literally was a “walking epistle” of God.
His three siblings preceded William in death: Chris Loretto, Paul Fragua, and Jerry Fragua; his two dearest children: Patty Louise Lyver and Dwayne Keith Fragua. William is survived by his sweetheart and love of his life of over 76 years, Agnes Montoya-Fragua; two surviving children, Rose Therese and William Gregory Fragua; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and his brother, George Julian Fragua whom he cherished dearly.
