William David Fitts

William David Fitts went to be with the Lord on July 6, 2016 at the age of 96.
Born September 21, 1919 in Burneyville, Oklahoma, Bill moved with his family
to the Tularosa Basin at the age of four, and has lived in the area all his life with the exception of his military service.
Bill was a WWII veteran having joined the Army in Santa Fe, NM in 1941 and served in the infantry and artillery in the South Pacific Campaign until 1945. He was also a member of the National Guard from 1948 to 1954. Upon his return from the war, he met Ilene Louise (Sis) Hagee in Tularosa, New Mexico. They were married in Clovis, NM on December 21, 1945. Louise preceded him in death on January 28, 2004.
Bill was a long time employee of the Alamogordo Chevrolet dealerships from 1945 through 1979 and retired from the State Highway Department in 1991. After the passing of his beloved wife, Louise he moved from Alamogordo back to Tularosa to be closer to his son, Bob and daughter-in-law Sandra.
Both Louise and Bill were members of the Alamogordo Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Blackmon Fitts in 1955 and Mary Ellen Fitts in 1965, three brothers: Arthur, Emmett, Clarence and sister, Marie; daughter-in-law, Sophie M. Fitts in 1991 and son, Robert Scott Fitts in 2015.
Bill is survived by two sons, Dr. William D. Fitts and wife Sharon of Lincoln, NE. Grandson Steven, Lincoln, Nebraska.
Ronald W. Fitts and wife Laurel of Lanoka Harbor, NJ. Grandchildren Christopher, Eric, Garry Tonon and Ashley Tonon.
Daughter in law, Sandra Fitts of Albuquerque, NM, Grandchildren Robert S. Fitts Jr, David M. Fitts (Dana), Marie E. Fitts (Carol), Jacqualyn L. Delgado (Ed) and Gregory S. Abney (Irene).
Great-Grandchildren:
Robert Scott Fitts III, Sophia Fitts, Olivia Fitts, Shri Delgado, Robert Delgado, Marcus Delgado (Angelica), Brianna Delgado, Jaymes Delgado (Cassandra), Schon Crawley, Landon Fitts, Caden Fitts .
Five Great-Great-Grandchildren, Victoria, Joseph, Terrance, Conrad and Chloe.
One Great-Great-Great-Grandchild, Amada.
Interment will be in the Angus, NM Cemetery at a later date.
