William A. Dunbar passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 18, 2023.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carmen and Bill Dunbar; and his sister, Mary Helen Rojas.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Terry Dunbar (Navarrete); his sisters, Eleanor Orton and Antoinette (Vicente Silva) Silva-Dunbar; his children, Leslie (Jeffery Sallade) Dunbar, William (Kelly) Dunbar, Amanda (Taylor) Evans, and John (Kiki) Dunbar; his grandchildren, Anthony (Natalie) Cook, Alexandra (Michael) Spinello, Elijah Sallade, Casey, Samuel, Christian and Maddie Dunbar, Lucas, Elena, and Ariana Evans, Austin and Annaliese Ward, Ameliana, Abigayle, and John Thomas Dunbar; and his great-grandchildren, Nora, Oliver, Dominic, Penelope, Camden, Jameson, and Ryan.
Bill grew up in South Broadway. He attended St. Francis Xavier Elementary and St. Mary's High. He graduated and earned a Master's of Public Administration from UNM.
Bill dedicated his life to the service and benefit of the people of New Mexico through his work with the Health and Human Services Department.
Retiring in 2010, he found joy in his growing family.
He was a lifelong Roman Catholic, an avid reader, a world traveler, and an enthusiast of all sports, especially running.

Services will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1860 Griegos Rd NW. Rosary begins at 10:30 a.m., with Mass following at 11:00 a.m. A Reception will be held at the parish hall following the Interment.
